Description
Inspired by family stargazing while waiting for fireworks on the 4th of July.
To map the sky we saw that night, I set a cosmosphere dish to ~4 July 9pm and painted a wash of deep blues to reflect the magic of the moment within the sky.
Gold dots mark the constellations we saw. Connecting art, memory, and space through the lens of family.
Stars are gold metallic watercolor pigment. Shades of blue wash used professional grade, transparent to semi-transparent watercolor paint.
Original artwork (in artist's collection) part of a juried space themed exhibit 2019, this piece began as 2018 World Watercolor Month prompt: "Family Memories."

The swirls of blue mixing with white create a great sky background for the pretty stars.
